Listen & Learn: Top 3 Photography Podcasts

On the streets, on BART, in the bathroom - I don't know how you consume your information these days but in the past few years, podcasts have made it very convenient and at your fingertips. Currently, there are more than 700,000 active podcasts and more than 29 million podcast episodes. Overwhelming, right? I think it's amazing!

Most of my day is spent in front of the computer editing photos, designing websites or graphics, or creating and coordinating social media strategies for clients. My favorite thing to do is to pop on a podcast and tip tap away. My podcast genres range from self-improvement to business, and daily news to true crime. The ones that have been the most inspiring and valuable to me are the photography and business-based podcasts. I am all about learning how I can provide better products, provide better client service, and find a better way to organize my work.

Here are the top 3 podcasts that keep me motivated, challenged, and curious as a photographer and freelancer.

If you struggle with being vulnerable and confident with your creative work or just in general with yourself, I HIGHLY recommend listening to these.

1. Bokeh - The Photography Podcast with Nathan Holritz

Bokeh Photography Podcast is top on my list as a photographer! The podcast focuses on "exploring the ever-blurring lines between the personal and business lives of professional photographers." Each episode features a different guest photographer in an interview-style. They include photographers who specialize in lifestyle, travel, weddings, and even animal photography! Not only do the guests share their photography style but also share the struggles and also accomplishments in juggling a photography business with their personal life.

My favorite recent episodes are:

"Pushing Through Vulnerability with Thu Tran"

"How to Get Unstuck with Madi & Micah May"

More than just a photography business, it's life also.

2. The Creative Introvert Podcast with Cat Rose

As an introvert, putting myself out there is very tricky. I love what I do but carry a lot of fear with taking up space or "showing myself." Because of this, I tend to be a perfectionist who struggles with putting out work with my marketing. This podcast focuses on "helping fellow creative introverts build a business from their creative pursuits, and do it in a way that feels good." The host is a creative introvert also! The episodes feature guests who are successful creatives but who are also self-diagnosed introverts. They share their tips and tricks on how to be comfortable being vulnerable and putting oneself out there with creative work.

My favorite recent episodes are:

"How to Manage Anxiety about Marketing with Sarah Santacroce"

"Facing Fears and Waking the F*ck Up with Paula Mould"

Claim the powers of introversion! Learn how to thrive as a creative introvert from a creative introvert.

3. RISE Podcast with Rachel Hollis

As a freelancer, I have days where I lack the motivation to get started or lack the fire to be ballsy and confident. This podcast focuses on providing "tangible and tactical tools for your life and business. It is a series of bold conversations with fellow business powerhouses and personal development leaders that provides the listener with real-life valuable takeaways." Also, it's hosted by Rachel Hollis, the author of the New York Times Best-Selling book, "Girl, Wash Your Face!" She's fiery and tells it like it is! Because of this podcast, I am more aware of my perfectionism and make no excuses to put out work, challenge myself, and push my edges.

My favorite recent episodes are:

"Stop Procrastinating!"

"How To Be Brave with Reshma Saujani"

Truth hurts but most times, you just need to hear it!
